From the roots of a sibling rivalry Puma was born. It was founded in 1948 by Rudolf Dassler who with his brother Adolf Dassler originally jointly formed the company Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory. Their success peaked in the 1396 Berlin Olympic Games with Jesse Owens winning his four gold medals sporting Dassler spikes but the fraught relationship between the brothers deteriorated and the two agreed to split in 1948. They formed two separate entities, Adolf with Adidas and Rudolf with Puma. Since then Puma has gone on to become one of the biggest footwear and sportswear companies in the world producing world beating sneakers, running shoes, footwear and technical tees, sweats and more.
